O&R PRESS RELEASE: STORM ALERT - O&R SET TO MOBILIZE ITS EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAMS AHEAD OF IMPENDING SEVERE STORMS STORM ALERT: O&R SET TO MOBILIZE ITS EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAMS AHEAD OF IMPENDING SEVERE STORMS PEARL RIVER, NY, July 17, 3:00 p.m. - Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. (O&R) is preparing to deploy its emergency response workforce tomorrow morning in anticipation of incoming isolated severe thunderstorms The storms are expected to come in two batches throughout the duration of the day. Weather models indicate these storms may produce high winds capable of knocking down trees, snaping heavy branches, and damaging utility poles. These environmental hazards present a direct challenge to electrical infrastructure and can cause disruptions to safe, reliable power delivery. In addition to dedicated overhead line technicians, vegetation clearance crews, and customer service teams, 75 mutual aid workers are on active standby and prepared to work continuously to address power interruptions throughout the storm's duration. Assume the wire is energized and dangerous. Call O&R immediately toll-free 1-877-434-4100. Depending on the situation, you may also consider calling your local police to divert traffic from the downed wire's location until an O&R crew arrives. How to Report an Outage If you experience a power outage, don't assume that O&R automatically knows about it.
