The Town of Monroe and Interstate Waste Services work closely to ensure the residents of the Town and Villages have a safe, sustainable, and clean community.

*Limit of (2) cans per pickup*
There will be no Refuse/Recycling pickup on the following holidays. When a holiday falls on a pickup day, the entire weekly schedule will shift one day

*Limit of One Item Per Week* *Bulk Pickup begins the 1st Thursday in April and ends the last Friday in December* *Freon must be removed from refrigerators, freezers, AC Units & Tagged by a professional*
- Please do not place items containing freon out for bulk unless you have hired a technician to remove the freon and have the appliance tagged by a professional.
- Best option is to pay the retailer their fee to remove the old fridge when purchasing a new one. Or you can take it to OC Transfer Station #1 @ 21 Training Center Lane, New Hampton, NY. Small fee imposed

Unacceptable Items For Pickup: Construction Debris, Tires, Grass, Brush & Leaves, Computers, Televisions, Batteries, Lawn Mowers. *Interstate Waste Services does not accept the items listed above. For other options please call 845-782-8583*
Paper & co-mingled can be placed in either the green recycle container provided by the town or a garbage can clearly labeled for recycling. Recycling Bins are available for pick up at the Town of Monroe Highway Department located at 87 Mine Road.
Recyclable items include but are not limited to
Tin & Aluminum Cans & Foil. Plastic Containers & Cartons – remove caps & rinse. Glass, bottles & jars – remove caps & rinse. Mixed Papers – newspapers, magazines, cardboard, paper.
*Cardboard must be broken down & tied*
RECYCLING PLACED IN PLASTIC BAGS WILL NOT BE PICKED UP. PLASTC BAGS ARE STRICTLY PROHIBITED.

Interstate Waste Services does not accept yard waste. The Town of Monroe offers Compost Facilities for residents to drop off yard waste.
*These facilities are open to residents of the unincorporated Town of Monroe (outside of the Villages). Village of Monroe and Village of Harriman residents should contact their respective Village for additional information on disposal OPTIONS. *

*Sign in at the office before dropping off *Driver’s license / id required *Brush must be under 4 feet in length and no larger than 5 inches in diameter. *No logs or wood will be accepted. *No commercial or business waste permitted. *No plastic bags.
