The Town Clerk's Office is the public's information center for the Town of Monroe's government. The role of the Town Clerk is to perform many important administrative duties on behalf of the town and state government including : Records Access Officer, Registrar of Vital Statistics for the Town of Monroe & Village of Monroe, Records Management Officer, Licensing Clerk, Tax Collector.
Services are available at no charge by appointment (9:00am-3:00pm / Monday-Friday)

You can purchase your prepackaged E-ZPass On-The-Go tag for $25.00 from our Town Clerk's Office. There is no additional cost for getting an E-ZPass tag at an On-the-Go location, the full $25.00 payment is moved to your account as soon as you register your tag online. Stop by and purchase your tag, mount the tag in your vehicle and register your tag within 48 hours!
Copies of vital records for those individuals who were born, died or obtained their marriage license in the Town of Monroe or the Village of Monroe are on file in the Town Clerk's Office. The fee is $10 per copy. You may request a copy by mail or in person.

A valid Rabies Certificate must be presented at time of License and / or Renewal.

Important Information Regarding Increase of Dog Licensing Fees.
On August 31, 2020 the Town Board of the Town of Monroe increased the dog licensing fees as follows:
1-year license for spayed or neutered dogs: $15.00 plus, a State Surcharge of $1.00 Total license fee: $16.00
*Option 3-year license for spayed or neutered dogs: $40.00 plus, a State Surcharge of $3.00 Total license fee: $43.00
1-year license for unspayed or unneutered dogs: $25.00 plus, a State Surcharge of $3.00 Total license fee: $28.00
*Option 3-year license for unspayed or unneutered dogs: $65.00 plus, a State Surcharge of $9.00 Total license fee: $74.00
*Please note to apply for a 3 year license the rabies certificate must cover the 3 year license period.
Seniors over 65 dog license fees:
1-year license for spayed or neutered dogs: $2.00 plus, a State Surcharge of $1.00 Total license fee: $3.00
*Option 3-year license for spayed or neutered dogs: $6.00 plus, a State Surcharge of $3.00 Total license fee: $9.00
1-year license for unspayed or unneutered dogs: $5.00 plus, a State Surcharge of $3.00 Total license fee: $8.00
*Option 3-year license for unspayed or unneutered dogs: $15.00 plus, a State Surcharge of $9.00 Total license fee: $24.00
*Late fee: Any dog license renewed after 60 days of due date will have a $5.00 late fee applied to license renewal.

(Low cost spay/neutering for CATS ONLY) The Town Clerk's Office is proud to announce that the Town of Monroe has joined the list of Towns who have partnered with the T.A.R.A. spay/neuter program for cats only.
This is how the program works: A Town of Monroe, Village of Monroe, Village of Harriman, or Village of Kiryas Joel resident may come to the Town Clerk's Office to prove residency (driver's license, tax bill, utility bill). You then pay a fee of $25.00, which is put toward the total fee charged, and the remainder fee of $25.00 will be subsidized by the Town of Monroe. ***It is the owner/sponsor responsibility to contact the T.A.R.A. clinic at (845) 343-1000 to make an appointment. (Appointments must be made in advance) Cats can be spayed or neutered at any T.A.R.A. mobile location Certificate expires 60 days from date issued.
You must have a valid drivers license. First time purchases in the Town of Monroe requires the applicant to produce an old hunting license (backtag is not sufficient).
