2022 Town & County Tax Notice

                                          Tax Collector’s Notice 

Please Take Notice That, the Tax Collector’s Office, for the Town of Monroe will be collecting taxes at 1465 Orange Turnpike, Monroe, New York during the months of January 1st – March 31st, 2022, Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM.  

Payments by mail send to: Town of Monroe Tax Collector

                                              Buffalo, NY 14240-1046

For online payments by credit card or e-check go to www.monroeny.org click on View/Pay Tax Bill.  Please make all checks, cashier’s checks or money order payments out to Town of Monroe Tax Collector. No cash payments will be accepted. Payments made during the month of February: a 1% penalty will be added. Payments made during the month of March: a 2% penalty will be added, plus a $2.00 Second Notice Fee.

Last day for acceptance of payment of taxes will be collected on March 31, 2022. Must be postmarked no later than March 31, 2022. Tax payments made after March 31st 2022 must be paid to the Orange County Commissioner of Finance (845) 291-2480.

The Town of Monroe is pleased to announce the return of in-person Town Board Meetings at Town Hall, 1465 Orange Turnpike, Monroe, New York.

Given the current times, please note the following procedures that must be adhered to should you choose to attend a meeting:

- Please be advised that all employees, board members and visitors will continue to partake in a temperature screening upon arrival to all town buildings until further notice. Masks MUST be worn.

Meeting attendees arriving prior to the 7 p.m. meeting start time should enter through the upper level doors where a contactless temperature check will be conducted. To assist in contact tracing efforts, meeting attendees will be asked to provide their name and contact information. All temperatures will be recorded as a pass/fail on a log-sheet unless a body temperature above 100.4 is detected, in which the actual temperature reading will then be recorded and traced. Any individual who shows signs of an elevated body temperature will be asked to return home immediately and contact their physician.

- Lastly, please continue to be respectful of others by remaining at home should you feel ill or exhibit any symptoms of COVID-19. 

We are excited to share the newly renovated meeting room with our residents. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to our safety guidelines and thank you for your ongoing patience and support!

Declaration of State of Emergency Town of Monroe

DECLARATION OF STATE OF EMERGENCY
TOWN OF MONROE

Pursuant to the authority granted to me under New York State Executive Law, Section 24, in order to preserve public safety, I, Anthony Cardone, Town Supervisor of the Town of Monroe hereby declare a state of emergency in the Town of Monroe for a period of time beginning December 30, 2021 at 2:00 p.m and lasting until January 28, 2022 1:59 p.m., unless otherwise extended by an addition order.
I hereby direct all departments of the Town of Monroe, to take steps necessary to protect life and property, public infrastructure, and provide such emergency assistance deemed necessary.  This state of emergency has been declared due to the ongoing COVID-19 / Coronavirus Disease 2019, which was initially declared a pandemic by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) on March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared this disease a world Pandemic on March 11, 2020, the Governor of the State of New York declared a state of emergency for New York State on March 07, 2020  and on March 13, 2020 the President of the United States filed an Emergency Declaration in regard to COVID-19.  Subsequently, a recent surge in COVID cases and COVID variants has resulted in new State of Emergency declarations by the Governor of the State of New York, including Executive Order 11 of 2021 (November 26, 2021). This emergency is of sufficient severity and magnitude to warrant that certain emergency protective measures to be taken in response to the COVID-19 pandemic emergency to protect the health, safety, and welfare of all the Town residents. As a result of this ongoing pandemic the Town may need to take actions to suspend local laws, policies and regulations in order to respond to such pandemic/State of Emergency and Local Emergency Order will be issued as necessary to do so and to ensure the public safety, public property or life, health, and safety of residents require immediate action. These conditions threaten the public safety of the citizens of the Town of Monroe.

Planning Board Workshop Meeting Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 7:15 PM (Monroe Town Hall 1465 Orange Turnpike)

The Town of Monroe Planning Board is pleased to announce the return of in-person Planning Board Meetings at Town Hall, 1465 Orange Turnpike, Monroe, New York.

Given the current times, please note the following procedures that must be adhered to should you choose to attend a meeting:

Following Governor Cuomo’s adoption of the CDC guidelines lifting the mask mandate for vaccinated individuals, masks will no longer be required at town meetings for individuals who are fully vaccinated (*you are considered fully vaccinated 14 days after your 2nd dose of the vaccine).  Individuals who are immunocompromised or are unvaccinated should continue to wear masks and socially distance.


- Please be advised that all employees, board members and visitors will continue to partake in a temperature screening upon arrival to all town buildings until further notice.

Notice: Annual Election of the Monroe Joint Fire District

NOTICE OF ANNUAL ELECTION

MONROE JOINT FIRE DISTRICT

            PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Annual Election of the Monroe Joint Fire District will take place on December 14, 2021, between the hours of 3:00 P.M. and 9:00 P.M. at the fire district offices located at 406 North Main Street, Monroe, New York for the following purpose:

           

To elect one (1) Fire District Commissioner for a five (5) year term commencing

January 1, 2022 and ending December 31, 2026.

All residents of the Monroe Joint Fire District, who are duly registered to vote with the Orange County Board of Elections on or before November 22, 2021 shall be entitled to vote at this election.

Any person desiring to have his or her name appear on the ballot for the above office of Commissioner must have filed a petition, signed by at least twenty-five (25) qualified electors of the Fire District, with the Secretary of the Fire District not later than November 24, 2021.
