The Senior Center's purpose is to be a hub of activities and services for older persons and a visible symbol of the community's concern for its older residents. The Center's primary goal is to provide a balance of social, recreational, educational, health maintenance, economic and financial programs/information to the senior population.
Membership is open to residents of the Town of Monroe, proof of residency is required (i.e. tax bill or current utility bill) and those residents that are 60 years of age or older.
Please see Ann Marie in the office to review the calendar or call the office at (845) 783-9486.
We offer a variety of exercise classes: Yoga, Stretch, Aerobics, Meditation, ZUMBA and Osteo-Weight Training.
All new participants are required to obtain a note from their physician for clearance or allowance with specified limitations before beginning an exercise regimen.
We offer two clubs:
Jolly Seniors of Monroe & Young at Heart (annual dues $15 and $10, respectively).
They meet twice a month as indicated on the calendar and offer social activities such as BINGO and several trips throughout the year.
Announcements of trips are discussed at meetings and are posted on the bulletin board in the entrance way.
Additionally, the Jolly Seniors of Monroe offer a monthly casino trip March-October.
Other activities include BINGO Thursdays, computer lab access, men’s /women’s card playing.
Blood pressure screening takes place on the second Thursday of each month.
AARP offers a defensive driving class twice a year in the late fall and spring.
