Town of Monroe roads at Billwood, Elmwood, Hilltop, Ryan Court, Suttie, and Williams Court are tentatively scheduled for paving on August 22 and 23 weather permitting. It will take approximately 2 days to complete.  Drivers are reminded to drive cautiously on those roads while the roads are being paved.

The Monroe Historical Society has rescheduled its annual mine Iron Tour for September 8th

departing from the Monroe Senior Center, 101 Mine Road at 10:00 AM.  The tour will

include one mine, and then a tour of the Greenwood Iron Works in Arden.  The ore from

Monroe Mine was transported from the mines to Arden to be melted into bars, and then shipped

to the Parrot Foundry at Cold Spring, NY.  The tour will be conducted by Town Historian 

James Nelson, and Doc Bayne.  The tour is free and reservation are not necessary.

The Town Board of the Town of Monroe is considering adoption of Local Law Introductory No. 8 of 2018. The purpose of this Local Law is to allow the Town of Monroe to adopt a Local Law amending Chapter 57, of the Town Code Concerning Alternate Members of the Zoning Board of Appeals.

The Hudson Valley Chapter of The Make A Wish Foundation recently helped Wish Child Tomas by granting his Wish of a personal Merry-Go-Round for his yard.  The Town of Monroe Highway Department & The Town of Chester Highway Department were instrumental in excavating/preparing  the area and relocating another apparatus to allow for the installation of the Merry-Go-Round.   Pictured with Thomas & his Family at the unveiling are Town of Monroe Highway Employees  and IBEW 363.  Members pictured are Thor Midtbo, Billy Kyles,  Highway Superintendent  John Sherne,  Rob Marsh and Chris Cocks along with Tomas and his parents and sisters.

At 7:00 pm you will be required to purchase tickets or bracelets to go on any ride.

WATER DISTRICT NO. 12

IMPROVEMENT OF FACILITIES ($1,500,000.00)

            PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Town Board of the Town of Monroe will hold a public hearing on August 13, 2018, at 7:15 PM, at the Monroe Senior Center, 101 Mine Road, Monroe, New York, to consider and hear public comment on proposed improvements to the water facilities of Water District 12. The improvements consist of construction of a water main replacement and appurtenances, installation of an emergency generator, new pump house, control panel and reconstruction of electrical system, including furnishings, equipment, machinery and apparatus required therefore. A map and plan describing the proposed improvements, together with an estimate of the cost, has been prepared by the Town’s professional engineers and is on file in the Town Clerk’s office. The maximum estimated cost of the improvements, including construction, engineering, legal and administrative costs, is one million five hundred thousand ($1,500,000.00) dollars. The Town expects to receive a $1,000,000.00 grant from the State of New York for these improvements. All persons interested will be heard by the Town Board at the public hearing.

            The Town of Monroe will make every effort to assure that the hearing is accessible to persons with disabilities. Anyone requiring special assistance and/or reasonable accommodations should contact the Town Clerk.
