2018 TAX COLLECTORS HOURS
January, February, March: Monday – Friday 8 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Month of January, Saturday's the 6th & 27th 9:00am - 12:00pm
Tuesday's the 16th & 30th 4:00pm - 7:00pm
Wednesday the 31st 4:00pm - 7:00pm
Month of February, Saturday's the 3rd & 24th 9:00am - 12:00pm
Tuesday's the 6th & 27th 4:00pm - 7:00pm
Wednesday the 28th 4:00pm - 7:00pm
Month of March, Saturday's the 10th & 31st 9:00am - 12:00pm

Due to the last day of the month falls on a Saturday the tax office will collect taxes on Monday April 2nd and will stay open late from 4:00pm - 7:00pm for the last day of collection of taxes.
The Tax Office is responsible for the collection of property taxes for all parcels located within the Town of Monroe including the Village of Harriman, Village of Kiryas Joel and the Village of Monroe. All powers and duties of this office, as well as collection procedures, are statutory and defined in the New York State Real Property Tax Law.
Tax bill information is available on the web new owners, subdivisions, or property merges are not shown until the following year. To access your tax bill, click on the link below and search it by entering owner name, section, block, lot #, tax bill number or property address. Previous years may be search by clicking the box with the year in it and then select the year you would like from the drop box.
DUTIES OF THE OFFICE OF THE TAX COLLECTOR
The Tax Collector collects the General Property Taxes in January. The bills are generally mailed out the last week in December. Payments can be made upon receipt of bill through January 31st, without penalty. If they are paid on/after February 1st, there is a penalty, see below:
February: 1% penalty
March: 2% penalty (plus $2 Second Notice Fee)
After April 2nd 2018, all unpaid parcels are turned over to Orange County for collection.
Payments may be made in person by check, cash, money order OR credit card and payments can also be made by mail.
All payments have to be made for the correct amount due and we do not accept partial payments.
Please do not send cash through the mail.
The property tax bill contains levies for the Town, County, Fire District, and any special districts.
In addition, if school or sewer bills are unpaid the previous year, they will be re-levied on the recent Property Tax Bill.
The Town of Monroe Tax Office does not collect Village Tax Bills; they are mailed out early June,
and School Taxes for the School District are mailed out early September.
